No. 3 – The Spicery – Butter Chicken Kit

Today I Love: The Spicery – Butter Chicken Kit

What: The Spicery is a Bristol based small company that measure, grind and pack spices into kits that are sent through the post to your doorstep. The idea is to enable home cooks to make excellent spiced food easily. This includes food from all over the world, not just curry! You can buy one off kits, or subscribe to regular box, which then comes monthly to you at home.

Where: Either pop on down to visit them for an event at their Feeder Road site, or log on to their website:

Why: I love to eat out, but you can’t eat out every day, (or so my wife tells me!) so when you want great tasting food you need to follow a recipe and do it yourself. With curry and other aromatic dishes requiring such specific spices, often you need to make a special trip to the shop and end up buying a jar of spice, only to use a half teaspoon. After that it just sits in the pot on your spice shelf rotting. Not only do the Spicery kits provide exactly the right ingredients, they also have clear and easy to follow instructions inside the pack too!

Below you can see me making what turned out to be an amazing butter chicken recipe, with a healthy, aromatic side salad. The recipe was easy to follow, the standard ingredients were common enough that I had them in house and I adapted the recipe to use chicken on the bone.

How Much: This kit was purchased as part of a deal, but it can be individually purchased for £2.95 from The Spicery Website:
