Today I love: East Bristol Brewery Trail
What: Bristol is blessed with many amazing breweries, but East Bristol has somehow cleverly managed to line them up and place them in easy walking distance of each other. So to celebrate this cosmic alignment of goodness, a few weekends a year, all of the breweries agree to open their doors for two days, invite in the best of Bristol’s street food scene and have a big beerey street party.
All you need to do is follow them on social media, grab a map from one of the breweries – Good Chemistry, Moor Beer, Left Handed Giant, Dawkins or Arbor Ales. and follow the trail.
Where: Arbor Ales (181 Easton Road, BS5 0HQ)
Dawkins Ales (Unit 2 Lawnwood Road, BS5 0EF)
Good Chemistry Brewing (William Street, BS2 0RG)
Left Handed Giant Brewing Co. (Wadehurst Industrial Park, St Philips Road, BS2 0JE)
Drink Moor Beer (Days Road, BS2 0QS)
Why: I have now been lucky enough to walk/cycle the train on two separate occasions and both were brilliant fun. This time round for the May Bank Holiday version we cycled between the breweries and contented ourselves with one half at each of the venues, which meant that we got to try a good variety of flavours, but without wasting the next day on a hangover.
Each of the breweries pushed the boat out, providing DJs, food vendors (Tsukemono, Mission Pizza, Gopal’s Curry Shack, Pepenero, Pickled Brisket and Sausagenius) and lots of other fun stuff – there was ice cream, cocktails, ping pong tables and even sofas in the sun!
How Much: The beer prices vary on the brewery, but £40 would see you have a very happy and food filled day!
